Winter Memories

You are going to come into the store to see the amazing quilting that Jack Stewart has done on this quilt!  I saw the pattern, liked it, bought it. I liked it even more when I picked out the fabrics and made it, but NOW I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT EVEN MORE with the quilting that was done.

Great job, Jack!!  I have a few kits left which includes some of the embellishments I have done.

Just got in new fabric from Red Rooster  called Here comes  Santa by Arlene Neely.  Sooooooooooooo cute--panel with sweet Santas  border fabric with snowmen, bunnies and birds.  Last year when I received Christmas fabric from Red Rooster it flew out so come in before its gone.  I'm having a day off this Friday-- sort of.  I'm going to Windsor to a Floranni seminar.  Its to do with embroidery and quilting software. Sunday I'm off to Woodstock for a meeting with all the shops for the July Shop Hop.   Then next week I'm off to Toronto for two days to check out the new machines from Pfaff.  Yes they have done it again  three more new machines  Creative Sensation Pro,  Select 4.2 and the new 16" table top quilting machine with stitch regulator.  Plus an upgrade of the embroidery software  6D and new notions.  Stay tune for a full report

WANTED SOMEONE WHO CAN READ MY MIND.  I can not get into writing this blog consistently.  There is always something else that needs doing. 
Chuckle of the day.  I was driving back from my weekly 5km+ walk at Springbank Park when a second wave of Canadian geese decided to cross the road on Commissioners Road.  A driver coming towards me stops and waves the geese across --as if they understood .  The person realizes what they had done and we both had a good chuckle.

It is that time again when Sew Creative and the Marsh Store get together and have our annual Quilting Celebration. Monday,  September 16 at the Komoka Community center,  133 Queen Street, Komoka 7pm.  Advance tickets are $5.00 and that ticket will be stamped at the door which will turn it into a $5.00 coupon that can be used at either store.  We, in turn, will donate money to the Womens Shelter in Strathroy.  Shirley and I will have our samples(better get sewing!) for the next quilting season and will sell some of our past samples, special guests, drinks and snacks.  A time to get together with fellow quilters and have some laughs. 

 July 4 is the start of the July Shop Hop.  I have finished making up the sample with the help of my friend Marg , my aunt Tanta Mies and Jack Stewart (machine quilter extraordinaire).  The quilt will be revealed at that time. Chantel from  Hyggeligt Fabrics, Shirley from Coldstream and I will be having a OPEN HOUSE July 15 at the Coldstream Community Center
10227 Ilderton Road  10-4.  All is welcomed to this event. We will be having special guests. You will meet with the designer  Shania Sunga.  She will be doing 2 presentations  at 11 am and 2pm.  We will also have Kevin and Tara from Contemporary Sewing(supplier of the fabric) They will be bringing Cantik Batiks especially  made for this Shop Hop.  Chantel, Shirley and I will  have our Pop up Shops there along with the Cantik Boutique.  Come for a visit with fellow quilters. Shop for Cantik Batiks. Don't forget to get your passports stamped for 3 shops at one location.

I have received the Winter Blessings material, patterns and wool plus Valdani Perle Cotton  threads  from Primitive Gatherings.  This is the candle mat version using the fabrics and wool.  Come and see the large quilt kit at the store.

 

 

I have had requests to have a beginner quilt class.  So here it is.

We will be using the book First-time Quiltmaking .  From cutting the fabric to binding the quilt you will finish a small quilt 42"x 54".  You may choose your own fabric from the selection at the store.   If you buy everything here the class is free.

Sorry its been awhile.  First I promised the name of the frog from the Qult Blossom Tour.  His name is Burford.  Don't know where or how come??? but he just looks like a Burford.  Shirley and I are already talking about another scavender hunt of some kind.  Stay tuned!

Busy packing up for the Ailsa Craig show next week.  I will be vending there Monday, May 20 to Saturday , May 25th.  Mon, Tues, Wednesday  9.30-6.00,  Thursday and Friday  till 8pm and Saturday 9-4.  Its the Quilts of Israel that will be in Ailsa Craig.  Hope to see you there!  Marg and Meagan will be at the store to help you while I`m away.
Geez I just realized I`ve have two  `M and M`s`  Marg & Meagan at the store and Murphy and Maggie (my two Westies) at home.  MMMMMMMMMMMM

Hey there! it has been a very busy couple of weeks.  I just came back from a Pfaff Convention in Orlando, Florida.  They have introduced 5 NEW MACHINES.  Passport 2.0 (awesome machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!)  Its a lightweight
machine with IDT, needledown, needle threader , stop/start button , 70 stitches, tie off stitch.  Great machine to take to class or retreat or friends.
Two New Expression  3.2 and 4.2 machines lot more lights, stop/start button and new look.
Performance 5.0 Color touch screen, Stitch Creator, Maxi stitches
Creative 3.0- colored screen, touch screen, Embroidery designs

They also gave lessons to inspire us to inspire you.  There was lots to see and do.  I did see Sea World gates but didn't have time to go:(

It was good to be away but great to be back.

This weekend is the Blossom Quilt Tour at Sew Creative and the Marsh Store .Visit one of the stores and we will give you instructions what to do.  It is like a mini scavenger hunt.  You will have to work for your discount.

The Material Girls Retreat  was another huge success.  I've finished 3 quilts--a very difficult one because of the way the pattern was written, one that I have started maybe 3 years ago and a no brainer (needed that one after the difficult one).  We had lots of laughs, great company and great food.  Can not wait till the next one in November.  Already 8 people have signed up it.

I have seen 4 ROBINS  during my walks with friends and dogs.  One on Friday morning, two Sunday morning and one on Sunday afternoon.
Hopefully this is the end of winter and the weather will get warmer.  I'm tired of bundling up.
This week I will be getting ready for the Material Girls Retreat this coming weekend.  Can't wait , always have a blast. If you are coming see you there and if not,  well,  maybe you will think about coming next time in November.

So I have finished counting all the fabric and stuff at the store , even with the cold that was shared by someone.  I have found lots of  near end bolts and put them on for 50% off.
Next week is 'Visit your local Quilt Shop' day January 26th. For 3 days starting January 24 to January 26th  I will be having great deals on fabrics, notions, books and patterns.
